NWH steps up its commitment to its people

Midlothian-based waste recycler, The NWH Group has cemented its commitment to its people with a drive to support learning and development in all departments through internal and external initiatives. These include increasing the number of apprenticeships available, recruiting and promoting from within, supporting external scholarships and growing entrepreneurial talent through knowledge and training schemes.

To support this drive, NWH has appointed Rhys Donaldson at HR Manager. Rhys first joined NWH Group in 2017 initially as a recruitment consultant to help fast-track the on-boarding of HGV drivers, and a number of other roles, in support of several major client contracts. He quickly became involved in the wider HR function and his role evolved to HR and Recruitment Consultant.

Bringing a broad skillset to the role, Rhys’ understanding and ability to engage with employees across the business enables The NWH Group to deliver on its strong family values and working culture, as well as creating a workplace that is rewarding and supportive.

Ricky Ray, HR and Compliance Director, said: “Rhys has been a great addition to the team from the beginning, grasping the opportunities to learn the business and understand our people. I’m delighted that his hard work and dedication to NWH has been recognised with this promotion."

Alongside his full-time employment, NWH Group has fully funded and supported Rhys to complete a level 5 CIPD qualification in Human Resource Management. This adds to his Masters degree in Business Management.

Rhys said: “I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity to manage the HR function at a fantastic family-run business, and I look forward to being part of the exciting growth plans that NWH has in the coming years”.
