Looking for skip hire? NWH supports fight against COVID-19

Following the decision to temporarily close at the end of March and operate only with skeleton staff to service critical contracts during lockdown, the waste recycler, NWH Group, has seen a record 60% increase in domestic skip customers.

The business has been able to unfurlough ten members of staff to support the increase in demand.

With general construction sites closed, and the hospitality sector on hold, efforts have been re-focussed on supporting essential services.

With operations being managed by home-based staff, the business’ keyworkers are assisting the health service through numerous NHS boards, NHS 24 headquarters and the NHS Louisa Jordan critical care hospital, as well as schools and nurseries for children of keyworkers, manufacturers and suppliers of PPE and other safety supplies and materials, utilities (Scottish Water) and the food production industry.  The business is also supporting local authorities to manage the increase in demand for domestic waste collections.

Mark Williams CEO at NWH Group, said: “These are difficult times for many as we are all trying to adjust to a new way of life. We are aware the public services are stretched in many cities throughout the UK and in order to best support our communities whilst councils are overwhelmed with additional domestic waste production, we have been able to respond with additional collections and the provision of skip hire.

“There remain issues with fly-tipping, but it’s encouraging that people are generally using their time constructively, getting things done around the house, and are being responsible with waste disposal.

“We are really proud of our staff who are keeping things moving just now, and playing our part in the response to Covid-19.”

With a fleet of 2,000 skips ready for hire, NWH is open for domestic customers in Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Newcastle. Find out more here: https://www.nwhgroup.co.uk/domestic-customers/skip-hire/

In line with government guidance, NWH has put in place several new social distancing measures to ensure the safety of employees and customers during the course of its current operations.

Skip Hire

Waste management solutions come in many forms, and one of them is skip hire. Skips suit a wide range of applications and are ideal for non-compactable waste generated by building or demolition sites, large scale developments, garden or office clean ups and home renovations.

The NWH Group provides high quality skips in a range of sizes, and also include the options of enclosed and lockable options.

The eight-yard skip, traditionally known as the builders’ skip, is by far the most popular of skips for domestic use thanks to its small footprint and ability to hold bulky and heavy materials (equivalent to 60 bin bags).

Another popular choice, offering more capacity, is the 14-yard skip (equivalent to 120 bin bags). It is ideally suited for mixed construction waste or for onsite timber segregation. 14-yard skips are available with open tops or enclosed with lids. Enclosed containers are ideal for collecting light waste such as cardboard or plastics.

For larger projects that anticipate a greater volume of waste, roll-on roll-off skips are the ideal choice. ‘ROROs’ are easy to load and have a range of access points including a rolling door that enables walk-in access. Made of tough, durable steel, all skips and RORO containers ensures that all waste is contained safely.
