Celebrating a Second Year Partnership with Unique Assembly

Celebrating a Second Year Partnership with Unique Assembly

We are pleased to announce that we have been chosen as the exclusive waste management provider for Unique Assembly's production of Edinburgh's Christmas for the second consecutive year.

In 2022, Unique Assembly was awarded an emergency contract to save Edinburgh's famed Christmas Markets, and we were pleased to be chosen as the waste management provider to assist with the operation. We had a great working relationship with them prior to our inaugural Christmas partnership, having previously worked closely with Assembly Festival as their waste management contractor for The Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the previous four years. For 2023, we are honoured to support the united effort of Assembly Festival and Unique Events, who formed Unique Assembly to realise their goal of creating extraordinary events while emphasising sustainability. We are also thrilled to participate in Edinburgh's winter traditions, such as the Christmas Markets and Hogmanay Torchlight Procession.

Lindsey Dyer, Unique Assembly’s Exclusive Account Manager at The NWH Group, expressed her excitement about the extended collaboration, stating,

“I am honoured to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Assembly Festival & Unique Assembly over the past few years. Throughout this time, my main goal has been to consistently deliver exceptional service to them as our esteemed customer. Therefore, I am delighted that we have reached a significant milestone in our relationship, which signifies the strong bond and partnership we have developed. Through our extensive collaboration, I have had the privilege of getting to know the Unique Assembly team and introducing additional services to support their ongoing growth. This includes the implementation of sweeper facilities and front-end loader skips, which have proven to be valuable assets in facilitating their expansion.”

Edinburgh’s Christmas will reopen on November 17th, 2023. To accommodate the various sites and locations, we will provide trade waste bins, FELS, and skips for all four waste streams: general waste, dry mixed recycling, glass, and food waste. These will be collected multiple times daily from various collection points throughout the city centre, including East Princes Street Gardens, which is home to the traditional continental Christmas market  and an array of food stalls, West Princes Street Gardens, the designated  Festive Family Funfair filled with family-friendly activities, George Street, where you can find the Scottish Christmas Fair and Ice Rink, and lastly, St Andrew Square, the place to meet Santa and participate in Santa's Stories group sessions. Additionally, we will provide sweeper services to ensure that the event sites remain clean and organised.

Charlotte Crone at Unique Assembly added.

“Following the successful delivery of the waste management at last year’s Edinburgh’s Christmas, we have chosen to work with The NWH Group again as it offers us complete peace of mind that the event waste is being handled professionally and responsibly.”

The Edinburgh Christmas Markets are indisputably a highlight for the city celebrating the year's end. Visitors can indulge in classic mulled wine, hot chocolate, festive illuminations, live musical performances, ice skating, amusement rides, and much, much more. The diverse range of activities ensures that there is something for everyone to relish and we cannot wait to be a part of it, doing our part to ensure this Edinburgh’s Christmas is not just magical but sustainable.
