Meet the team: Fiona Ireland

Meet the team: Fiona Ireland

To us family is more than the Williams, it includes each and every member of our team. So, we caught up with Fiona, The NWH Group’s Payroll Administrator, to learn more about her, her role, and her love of Tom Cruise.

Tell us your name, job title and how long you've been with The NWH Group.

Hi, I'm Fiona Ireland and my role is Payroll Administrator. I've been with NWH for 4.5 years.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy walking, looking after my grandchildren and Clubbercise.

Where are you from and where do you live now?

I’m originally Gorebridge, moved away for a while, and now back in Gorebridge.

What would you recommend doing in your hometown? What’s the highlights?

In this area there’s some great countryside and it’s ideal for walking, but if you’re looking for something a bit livelier, I’d suggest Edinburgh!

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

No real reason why, other than to say I’ve been, but I’d like to visit Las Vegas.

Tell us a fact about yourself that would surprise people.

I met one of my rock heroes at an aftershow party in Edinburgh Playhouse!

What was your first job? And your worst job?

First job, a checkout operator at Wm Low and worst job, a receptionist in a solicitor’s office.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

I don’t eat weird food (I’m boring) but the worst food I’ve eaten is Liver.

What’s your favourite thing about your role?

I love 5pm on Wednesday when I know the wages are in the bank and authorised!

What does a typical workday look like for you and what are your main duties at NWH?

I work 8.30-5 Tues to Thurs and basically, I make sure everyone is paid! I use a lot of softworks reports and spend time inputting hours. That sounds really boring, but I love it.

If you could swap roles with anyone at NWH for a day, who would it be and why?

If I could be 100% certain I wouldn’t crash, I’d love to drive a tipper. It’s so far out of my comfort zone and something I would never normally dream of doing.

What three words would you use to describe NWH?

Big Blue Lorries

Tell us your NWH highlight.

My first few months here we did secret santa and I said if anyone asked, I’d like Tom Cruise for Christmas, so that’s what I got….poor Bruce dressed as Tom in his Top Gun flying suit. I’m not sure who was most embarrassed.

Coffee or tea? Milk in first or last?

Coffee and surely it’s the law that the milk goes in first.

What three items would you bring on a desert island?

Jon bon Jovi, chocolate and my phone.
