On our mission to eliminate waste we provide waste collection services to the Leisure, Retail, and construction industries. Collecting waste with our fleet of Trade Refuse, Skip, Tipper, Grab and Walking Floor articulated vehicles, transporting materials to our Material recycling facilities where we produce a valuable product such as cardboard, Paper, Washed sands, Biomass for energy and animal bedding.

The business is now primed for the next phase of growth following strong trading performances and we are recruiting to increase our team to deliver this vision.

We are now recruiting for a Waste Site Operations Manager to join our teams based in Mayfield, Dalkeith. This position will be responsible for the management of NWH’s wash plant facility, as well as our Middleton quarry site; and oversee the maintenance, performance and productivity of the operations. Additionally, the successful applicant will be responsible for driving health and safety standards on site, and ensuring compliance with environmental requirements.

This is a full time position, working on average 48 hours per week, and pay a salary ranging from £35,000 - £40,000 per annum dependent upon experience. The ability to drive is essential due to the nature of the role and locations managed, so too is knowledge and experience in plant machinery.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of recycling facilities and their machinery, of wash plant processes, qualified to IOSH Managing Safely standard and WAMITAB Level 4 in on Hazardous Waste treatment and transfer.

Supervisory and managerial responsibilities:

  • Responsible for direction of wash plant labourers & plant operators to ensure all duties.
  • Manage the Weighbridge operator and activities.
  • Quality control checking of weighbridge operations to ensure compliance with licence.
  • Ensure good housekeeping of site maintained.
  • Implementing end ensuring compliance with the company Health & Safety Policy.
  • Implementing and ensuring compliance with Environmental and Quality Policy.
  • Production of daily reports on tonnages.
  • Effective and professional management of labouring staff.
