Collecting waste with our fleet of Trade Refuse, Skip, Tipper, Grab and Walking Floor articulated vehicles, transporting materials to our Material recycling facilities where we produce a valuable product such as cardboard, Paper, Washed sands, Biomass for energy and animal bedding.

We are now recruiting for a Senior Credit Controller to join our Accounts Receivable team based at our Head Office in Dalkeith. The NWH Group is a growing business with a large volume of customers and transactions. The primary responsibility of the Senior Credit Controller is leading two credit controllers and a cashier alongside your own debtor ledger of customers to ensure timely cash collection, the chasing of overdue balances, monitoring credit limits, placing accounts on/off stop and some allocation of customer receipts along with other delegated duties from the Account Receivable Manager.

The ability to drive is preferred due to the location of our Head Office in Dalkeith.

This position is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week, and paying a salary of £24,000 - £28,000 per annum dependent upon experience.

Main Job Activities of the Senior Credit Controller:

Sole duties include:

  • Responsible for a ledger of customer accounts, placing accounts on / off stop, making phone calls, managing debt chasing letters and setting up payment plans
  • Working collaboratively with three / four Account Managers collecting the debt from their customers
  • Managing customer queries and liaising with the Billing team to ensure resolution
  • Ensuring credit control procedures are followed
  • Supporting the team with accounts in debt recovery, and the communication thereof, to Accounts Receivable Manager
  • Weekly 1 to 1’s with the Accounts Receivable Manager (and Account Managers)
  • Chairing and attending meetings as required by the Accounts Receivable Manager
  • Producing weekly and monthly reports on debtors and cash collection figures
  • Providing as escalation point for the credit control team and managing the credit control inbox
  • Providing support and willingness to tackle and improve on process in the department
  • Ad-hoc tasks and queries for the credit control function eg opening accounts for new customers, analysing sales ledger, issuing customer statements, etc.
     

Shared duties include:

  • Assist cashier by ensuring all incoming payments from customers are recorded and correctly allocated against customers’ accounts
  • Chase remittances, when required
  • Set up new accounts and credit check customers to assess credit parameters
  • Arrange internal transfers for wrongly deposited customer payments and contact customer to advise of correct details by phone / email as required
  • Lodge cheque and cash payments and other banking transactions
  • Record and monitor unallocated customer payments and assist cashier to chase up for resolution

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Credit control management qualification is beneficial

Skills and knowledge

  • Flexible and adaptable to work within a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Can multitask and has the flexibility to complete a variety of projects
  • High level of numeracy
  • Computer literate with excellent to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel and a good understanding of accounting software
  • Good oral communication
  • Accurate with attention to detail
