The NWH Group is a second-generation family business headquartered in Midlothian. Servicing the whole of Scotland and Newcastle from ten sites, the NWH Groups vision is to eliminate waste by transforming it into a valuable product.

On our mission to eliminate waste we provide waste collection services to the Leisure, Retail and construction industries. Collecting waste with our fleet of Trade Refuse, Skip, Tipper, Grab and Walking Floor articulated vehicles, transporting materials to our Material recycling facilities where we produce a valuable product such as cardboard, Paper, Washed sands, Biomass for energy and animal bedding.

We are now recruiting for a Marketing and Communications Assistant to join the business.

You will be responsible for assisting the Marketing & Brand Manager, alongside other members of the team, to deliver the marketing strategy for The NWH Group. This includes co-ordinating communication with employees, customers, prospects, the press and on occasions, the public. In addition, it involves working on key business projects, the production of marketing materials, the use of social media, updating the company website and co-ordinating the use of branding.

This is a wide and varied role, and you may also be required to undertake other duties in relation to the business. A certain level of administration support is required to underpin this role.

The ability to drive is preferred due to the location of our Head Office in Dalkeith and the nature of the role as travel to other sites may be required at times.

This position is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week, and paying a salary of £21,000 - £23,000 per annum dependent upon experience.

Main Job Activities of the Marketing and Communications Assistant:

  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases and blogs
  • Use of social media across Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter, helping to devise and deliver social media strategy
  • Updating website content and news updates
  • Writing and editing the monthly e-newsletter to customers
  • Contributing to the creation and production of material collateral
  • Building the companies relationship with the media
  • Support to other internal teams where required
  • General tasks including handling enquiries where necessary
  • Video creation for internal and external use

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant experience working in a similar marketing or communications position would be beneficial.
  • Experience using Canva, Microsoft programmes and Hootsuite advantageous but not required as training on systems will be provided.
  • Photography and filming for online platforms experience desired.
  • Highly organised with attention to detail and strong communication skills.
