On our mission to eliminate waste we provide waste collection services to the Leisure, Retail and construction industries. Collecting waste with our fleet of Trade Refuse, Skip, Tipper, Grab and Walking Floor articulated vehicles, transporting materials to our Material recycling facilities where we produce a valuable product such as cardboard, Paper, Washed sands, Biomass for energy and animal bedding.

We are now recruiting for a Management Accountant to join our finance team based at our Head Office in Dalkeith. The successful applicant is part of the team that is responsible for delivering the timely production of accurate monthly management accounts. This results from an efficient month end close process operating within the framework of the Group accounting policies, procedures and internal controls. To achieve this, large data sets from the various operational and financial systems, are required to be analysed.

The ability to drive is preferred due to the location of our Head Office in Dalkeith.

This position is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week, and paying a salary of £25,000 - £29,000 per annum dependent upon experience.

Main Job Activities of the Management Accountant:

·          Preparation and reporting of subsidiary and Group management accounts

·          Closing month end ledgers: cashbook, sales, purchase and nominal ledgers

·          Understand, perform a detailed review and produce a variance analysis with recommendations for remedial actions to senior management

·          Preparation of all monthly balance sheet reconciliations

·          Maintain accurate and reconciled Fixed Asset and HP registers

·          Preparation of monthly journals (applying judgement where necessary)

·          Posting of payroll and expenses

·          Advise and update Purchase Ledger with accurate invoice posting

·          Analyse and report monthly overheads

·          Preparation of accurate quarterly VAT returns

·          Support the Head of Commercial Finance in understanding gross profits & utilisations

·          Contribute to the preparation of budgets and forecasts

·          Support Financial Controller with audit preparation and requests

·          Preparation of MI and analysis including sales and profit reports for sales team and senior management

·          Assist Financial Controller and department with improving, and introducing new, processes and controls

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

Qualifications

·          Essential:

o    Recent training in, and experience of, finance processes and reporting

o    Previous or current experience in high volume data analysis

o    Relevant commercial / business experience

·          Desirable:

o    Basic knowledge of VAT and corporation tax legislation

o    Experience in high growth companies

o    Experience of SQL coding (data extraction only) and/or Microsoft Power BI

 

Skills and knowledge

·          Highly proficient in Excel

·          Strong communication skills

·          Team player

·          Ability to present financial information to a variety of audiences in a way which is easily understood by the user

·          Ability to analyse and interpret data and to summarise the relevant points quickly and effectively

·          Ability to deliver responsibilities to strict deadlines with minimum supervision

·          An attitude to continuously improve processes
